Connected packaging 2030: the future of connected packaging 

Connected packaging is transitioning from novelty to necessity, becoming a core infrastructure for consumer-packaged goods (CPGs) and retailers.

By 2030, connected packaging is expected to evolve into an AI-driven, interactive platform—integrating with smart wearables to guide consumers, improve discoverability, and enhance trust through increased transparency. This will further shape brand perception and consumer relationships. 

CEC are launching a foresight study to address key questions: 

  • What are the current drivers, enablers, and barriers of connected packaging? 
  • How are these elements evolving? 
  • How can companies leverage connected packaging to fuel growth? 

Connected packaging will impact a wide range of business areas including design, branding, retail innovation, technology, accessibility, regulation, supply chain, sustainability, and data.
