Regulations on this page:
European Accessibility Act (EAA)
What is it?
EU-wide accessibility requirements for many mainstream products and services (including digital interfaces, e-commerce, self-service touchpoints), harmonised across Member States.
When will it take effect?
Applies from June 28, 2025; existing products/services generally have transitional timeframes to June 28, 2030.
What do I need to do?
- Ensure accessible information, packaging/labelling where applicable, documentation and complaints pathways.
- Embed accessibility into product/service design and procurement.
How can CEC help?
Accessibility audits, Accessibility Assurance, AQR roll-out, compliant information design, and ongoing governance—measured in Mi-View360™.
UK Equality Act / UK Web Accessibility Regs
What is it?
UK requirement to make reasonable adjustments and follow WCAG for public-facing services. If your UK pack links to digital, it’s in scope.
When will it take effect?
Now — with WCAG 2.2 adoption tightening 2025–2027.
What do I need to do?
- Test all QR/AQR journeys used in the UK; fix non-compliant content; standardise patterns.
How can CEC help?
We give you repeatable, UK-ready connected journeys that brand teams can’t break, governed by Mi-View360™.
AODA (Ontario) & Accessible Canada Act signals
What is it?
Canada tightening digital accessibility for public-facing experiences — good proxy for CPG/retail experiences in Canada.
When will it take effect?
AODA deadline 2025, with follow-up reporting to 2028; ACA progressive to 2030+.
What do I need to do?
- Align Canadian pack journeys to WCAG; ensure bilingual/assistive content and experiences; avoid market-specific one-offs.
How can CEC help?
Mi-View360™ ensures governance so you you stay consistent with EU/UK requirements.
US accessibility momentum (ADA, HHS, WCAG 2.1 AA)
What is it?
New US rules make it much harder to run non-accessible web/app experiences — and brands will apply that to QR-linked content too.
When will it take effect?
Public sector by 2026; private brands will harden 2026–2029.
What do I need to do?
- Treat every QR/AQR as a potential ADA target; standardise on WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA now.
How can CEC help?
We apply one accessibility pattern to all your connected experiences and track it centrally.
